Fire Pump Systems
Installation, testing, inspection, and repair of electric and diesel-driven fire pump systems across the Central Valley.
What Is a Fire Pump?
A fire pump boosts incoming water pressure to ensure your fire sprinkler system can deliver adequate flow and pressure during a fire event. When a building’s municipal water supply isn’t strong enough to meet the demands of the sprinkler system on its own, a fire pump makes up the difference. Without it, sprinkler heads at the top floors or far ends of the system may not get the water they need to suppress a fire.
Installation
We install complete fire pump assemblies including the main pump, jockey pump, controllers, suction and discharge piping, test headers, and all associated valves and gauges. We work with both electric motor-driven and diesel engine-driven fire pumps depending on building requirements and available utilities. Every installation is coordinated with your general contractor, electrical team, and the local Authority Having Jurisdiction to ensure a smooth turnkey delivery.
Testing & Inspection
NFPA 25 requires annual full-flow fire pump tests to verify your pump is delivering its rated capacity at rated pressure. We perform these tests and record suction pressure, discharge pressure, and flow at multiple points along the pump curve. The results are compiled into a certified report that documents your pump’s performance and identifies any degradation compared to prior years. We also handle weekly churn tests and monthly visual inspections for clients on maintenance contracts.
Repair & Emergency Service
Pump failures, controller malfunctions, packing leaks, bearing wear, jockey pump issues, and diesel engine problems — we diagnose and repair fire pump systems to restore them to full operation. A non-functional fire pump puts your entire sprinkler system at risk and can trigger fire watch requirements from the fire marshal. We respond quickly to emergency calls to minimize downtime and keep your building compliant.
Types of Fire Pumps We Work With
We service and install electric motor-driven pumps, diesel engine-driven pumps, and jockey pumps. Electric pumps are the most common in commercial buildings where reliable power is available. Diesel pumps are used where electrical supply is limited or where a backup independent of the building’s power grid is required. Jockey pumps maintain system pressure between fire pump activations and prevent nuisance starts. We’re experienced with horizontal split-case, vertical in-line, and end suction configurations.
Compliance
All of our fire pump work is performed in accordance with NFPA 20 (Standard for the Installation of Stationary Pumps for Fire Protection), NFPA 25 (Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems), and the California Building and Fire Codes. We coordinate directly with fire marshals and building departments to ensure your pump installation and testing meet all local requirements.
